career transition methodology

our programs are designed to accelerate and optimize the search for a new career opportunity, either in an existing organization or in a new venture such as the start-up of a company. Individuals in transition will be offered personalized advice and support enabling them to market themselves most effectively. The support will incorporate aspects such as a skills assessment, the clarification and development of a career objective, preparation of documentation, and active support during the search as well as during choice and negotiation stages.

our programs

full-service program

each full service program is tailored to the needs of the individual. The focus is discussed in advance and agreed upon, with the number of coaching sessions spread over the agreed contractual period. A program will typically cover the steps below:

  • an analysis of the current situation
  • a self-evaluation and skills assessment
  • a personality assessment
  • a discussion on management style and career progression
  • the development of a curriculum vitae and related marketing materials, e.g. letters, business cards, LinkedIn profile, etc.
  • the development of a search strategy and marketing plan
  • an understanding of networking techniques and how to best develop one’s own network
  • coaching on interviewing techniques using audio and video equipment
  • concrete support and follow-up during the job search
  • review negotiation techniques to discuss the key issues of the new position
  • discuss tips and practical advice on how to integrate quickly in the new job and environment
  • continue to coach the candidate during the trial period in the new employment

during the entire program, the following resources will be available:

dual career program

our dual career program is designed for couples where one of the partners has found a job and the other needs assistance to understand and adapt to the Swiss job market. This program, typically lasting between one and a half to three months, offers a range of counselling and support designed to help with a job search. The areas addressed will be the following:

  • analyze and grasp the key cultural aspects of the Suisse Romande market
  • determine the key qualities and competencies that have made the individual successful
  • define the areas of activity, functions and relations that help advance a career as well as potential other career options
  • discuss a behavioral profile using a personality analysis tool
  • develop a competitive CV and other documents such as letters and business cards
  • provide guidance on how to approach market research on potential employers
  • understand networking strategies and techniques, particularly the specifics of the Swiss market
  • develop and execute a personal marketing plan
  • provide coaching on interviewing techniques using audio and video equipment
  • review negotiation techniques to discuss key issues of the new position
  • discuss tips and practical advice on how to integrate quickly in the new position and environment

start your own business

this program is designed to assist individuals start, grow and succeed in the launch of their own business. It is divided into three modules to be best tailored to the need of the individual and focus on the key factors that will drive the success of the business.

Module 1: Self Evaluation
becoming a successful entrepreneur takes more than a great idea and the investment required. It also requires a high level of motivation and drive and a clear vision on what needs to be achieved. This is why this module has been specially designed to:

  • provide insights and understanding on what entrepreneurship involves
  • assess if the individual is ready to start a businessand identify strengths and weaknesses
  • explore and identify different business opportunities: create, buy or take over a franchise
  • understand the different legal structures, their advantages and limitations

Module 2: Business Plan
a written guide to starting and running your business successfully is essential.This document is called a Business Plan and serves three purposes:

  • communicates to potential investors, partners and employees
  • manages the business: track, monitor, and evaluate progress
  • identify the operational and financial objectives and plan the various phases of the development.

this module includes three sessions each of one hour with a consultant who will guide the future business owner in the elaboration of a comprehensive and successful business plan. Additional sessions may be added upon request.

Module 3: Starting Blocks

this module is aimed at people who have taken the decision to start their business. It provides tailor-made advice on all tax, social and legal aspects of setting up a business, as well as budget elaboration and accounting requirements. It includes two one hour sessions with a tax expert. Additional sessions may be added upon request.

private program

our private programs are aimed at the discerning individual who is considering his / her next career step. Private programs are available over 3 months or a shorter period. The specific content is adapted to the individual who can select from the following components:

  • assessment of strengths and weaknesses
  • behavioural profile using one of our assessment tools
  • goal setting and strategy development
  • preparation of curriculum vitae (CV)
  • development and execution of the marketing plan
  • networking strategy, techniques and support
  • making the best use of Linkedin’ capabilities
  • interview preparation and negotiation techniques

group program

if requested by a client company or organization, group outplacement programscan be organized for between three andeight individuals. Group programs usually comprise four modules delivered over four half days or two full days, with a maximum of eight participants. Each module is interactive to ensure all individuals participate. The modules cover the following topics.

Module 1: Personal Evaluation

participants work on a skills assessment in this module. They are coached on how to make a short introduction of themselves. Using pdp’s CARD methodology, they work on identifying and analyzing their key achievements. The analysis provides them with the required proof to support their competencies and strengths. The module includes identifying professional objectives by encouraging participants to describe their ideal job. At the end of the module, participants are able to identify their achievements, strengths and weaknesses, and to talk about them in a structured fashion. They also have the necessary elements to build an effective curriculum vitae (CV).

Module 2: Cv and Motivation letters

this module explores the function of a CV and motivation letter. Integrating the results of Module 1, participants develop their CVs and learn how to draft a successful motivation letter. At the end of the module, participants have all the required tools to finalize their CV and to write quality motivation letters.

Module 3: Search Strategy and Networking

this module clarifies the different search strategies available to look for a job. The module devotes substantial time to understanding what a network is and how to use it, and covers basic networking techniques. At the end of the module, participants have improved their understanding of the job market and of the necessary techniques to approach it efficiently.

Module 4: Interviewing Skills

this module focuses on the technical and formal aspects of job interviews. Verbal and non-verbal behavior is addressed. Each participant has the opportunity to practice an interview in a role play; videotaping allows participants to view the role play and learn from it. At the end of the module, participants have increased their understanding of their impact during a job interview.

Individual Sessions

the group program is complemented by one, two or three individual sessions for each participant. These sessions enable the individual to address more personal aspects or to review specific topics addressed in the group program.
